SS-31 is a synthetic tetrapeptide (a peptide composed of four amino acids linked via peptide bonds) designed specifically to target the mitochondria, which are the energy organelle within cells. How it Works

SS-31 has a strong affinity for cardiolipin, a phospholipid unique to the inner mitochondrial membrane.
Cardiolipin is critical for maintaining mitochondrial structure and supporting the electron transport chain. SS-31 binds to cardiolipin which then stabilizes the mitochondrial membrane and prevents structural damage. Electron transport efficiency is improved within the Electron Transport Chain (ETC) which is where ATP is produced. This results in reduced electron leakage and improved ATP production which equals greater energy available at a cellular level.
